Commission your own unique artwork
One of a kind original painting.
“Chaque tableau m'enivre, c'est comme si on vivait le paysage, les tableaux sont epoustouflant, de vrai chef d' oeuvre”
“Each painting intoxicates me, it's as if we were living the landscape, the paintings are breathtaking, real masterpieces”
— Laurine M
Why commission a painting?
You know the sense of peace and perspective that comes from spending time outdoors? Maybe it's the wonder you can feel watching the sky change colour at sunset or the calm that comes from watching the rhythm of waves washing in and out along the shoreline or perhaps just the joy of feeling of the sun warming your face.
Well, what I'm aiming to achieve through my paintings are the translation of those memories and feelings in order that you can be taken away to those places time and time again, from the safe haven of your indoor world.
You’ve been looking for something that evokes those familiar feelings but what you’ve found is never quite the right size or tone or place.
When to commission a painting?
I understand the time it takes to make decisions about who to invest your vision and trust.
Perhaps you’ll get in touch with some very specific ideas or perhaps with just a loose brief at first, either way, I’m always happy to listen and discuss your ideas either on email, phone, or video chat, whichever option suits you best.
Your painting will be totally unique to you. If it’s a memory that you would like to be captured and treasured and you have a photograph to share with me that you’d like me to work from then great.
Once we’ve reached the point where you’re super happy and excited by what you’re going to receive, I can order the materials and get myself in the mood to paint (this is my ‘thing’ to worry about so fear not…!).
To explain a little though, the most frequently asked question of my work is ‘how long does it take?’ and it’s a difficult one to answer. I assume that the person asking the question is asking about the time that I’m physically sitting putting paint to canvas which I can time relatively accurately but that doesn’t take into the much longer time it takes to reach a point of inspiration and energy. It sounds abstract, I know but the truth is, I need some time to think about what I’m going to be working on, to visualise what I’m aiming to achieve, and to ‘gear up to it’. I have learned time and time again that you can’t force creativity so, unfortunately, I can’t give you a straight answer but usually, I need a good few days to build up to a painting before putting any colour to canvas - don’t worry you don’t get billed for this!
In terms of the actual painting itself, I can either work in acrylic or oil on canvas. I will talk to you about this when you get in touch or you’re ready to commit. Due to the nature of working in oils, there will be a premium charge and a longer process. I will finish the painting with a varnish, which in itself takes a while to dry before transport.
Depending on the size of the canvas and the complexity of the picture, a painting usually takes between 4 - 12 weeks to complete. However, if your painting is a gift and/or you require it quicker then please let me know. I do require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.
How much does it cost to commission a painting?
The price of the final piece(s) will depend upon the size(s) and composition/complexity of the painting. For example, a painting of the same size, but one with meadows in daylight will take less time than one in the forest in the autumn.
All these details will be discussed when we chat. I can give you a quote on the cost of P&P once we’ve decided what size painting you are going to be commissioning. There is a 25% deposit fee, with the remaining balance to be paid upon completion of the painting and before delivery.
If you have any questions that I haven’t managed to answer, and you’re still a little nervous, don’t be - just ask here.
If you’re in and ready to take the leap already then hurray! I’m excited you’re ready and I can’t wait to work with you!
“Beautiful! I wanted a painting of two birds in front of a waterfall that I took a picture of on holiday in Brazil. This was more than 5 years ago and I still have it framed as my centerpiece in the living room to this day.”
— Nicolette Quinn
